Schwaigerlehen is a farmhouse built in traditional Pinzgau style, located in the centre of the charming village Stuhlfelden, nestling between the Hohe Tauern and the Kitzbüheler Alps, run by the Bacher family for four generations. The first written reference to Schwaigerlehen-Berngarten farm dates from 1486. At the heart of the historic building is the old "Rauchkuchl", a unique type of kitchen common to alpine regions from the late middle ages to the end of the 19th century. Meals are coooked over an open fire, but there is no chimney, so the smoke collecht under the ceiling, giving the room its name - literally "smokey kitchen". Very few of these kitchens are still in use. Enjoy the unique opportunity of watching Theresia Bacher prepare a feast for you on her open alder wood fire, just like in the old days. The Rauchkuchl dining experience is available by prior notice. On the two upper floors of the building, five quaint and cosy bedrooms are at our guests' disposal. Start your day the right way, with our lavish breakfast: fresh bread and rolls from the family bakery, home-made jams and eggs from our own chickens. When the house was renovated, great care was taken to retain the original charm of the old farm building. Therefore the toilets and bathrooms (with shower and bath) are located on the ground floor. Also on the ground floor there is the kitchen for the use of guests. At the request of 20 guests or more dinner is served in the Rauchkuchl. The seating arrangement is flexible. We can set several small tables for 2-4 guests or one large table for everyone to gather around. Families with children will appriciate our large garden and the quiet location in a village with very little traffic. There are parking spaces available at the house. Dogs are very welcome. The unspoiled scenery surrounding the farmhouse makes it equally ideal for a quiet break or active holiday in the great outdoors. For active nature enthusiasts, the nerby mountains provide endless opportunities for sports and excitement.
